Getting Started with Siperb
This guide walks you through signing up for Siperb, connecting your PBX, and making your first call. You’ll be up and running in under 10 minutes.
Step 1: Create Your Account
Sign Up
- Go to siperb.com/phone/
- Click Sign Up
- Enter your email address and create a password (or sign in with Google / social login)
- Verify your email — check your inbox for a confirmation link
That’s it. Your Siperb account is now active and free by default. No credit card required.
Choose Your Domain
When you first sign in, you’ll be asked to choose a domain. This is the “namespace” for your Siperb setup — it’s where your users, settings, and PBX connections live.
Option A: Create a New Domain
You become the Domain Owner (Administrator). You control user access, PBX connections, and settings. Choose this if you’re setting up Siperb for your organisation or team.
Option B: Join an Existing Domain
Someone else (your IT admin or business partner) has already created a domain and invited you. You’ll need their Domain Prefix to join. Ask them to send you the invitation link.
If you’re uncertain, start with Create a New Domain — you can always invite others later.
Step 2: Set Up a Connection to Your PBX
A Connection tells Siperb how to reach your PBX and route your calls. This is the critical step.
What Type of Connection Do You Need?
There are three types of connections. Most teams use Outbound Registration.
Outbound Registration (Most Common)
Siperb registers with your PBX on your behalf. Your PBX sees Siperb as an extension or trunk. This works with:
- Asterisk
- FreeSWITCH
- 3CX
- Avaya
- Most SIP-compatible PBXs
You’ll need:
- Your PBX’s SIP registration address (e.g.,
pbx.yourcompany.com) - A SIP username and password for Siperb to register with
- Your outbound call routing rules (dial patterns) — which calls go through this connection
Outbound Trunk
No registration. Siperb sends calls directly to a static IP on your PBX. Good for ITSPs, carriers, or when your PBX can’t accept inbound registrations.
You’ll need your PBX’s static IP and any authentication credentials it requires.
Inbound Registration
Your PBX registers with Siperb instead. Useful if your PBX is behind NAT or a firewall and can’t accept inbound connections.
You’ll need to configure your PBX to register with siperb.com using credentials we provide.
Create the Connection
- Sign in to siperb.com/phone/
- Click Admin (top right, if you’re a Domain Owner)
- Go to Connections
- Click Add Connection
- Choose your connection type (Outbound Registration, Outbound Trunk, or Inbound Registration)
- Enter your PBX details (address, credentials, dial patterns)
- Click Test Connection — Siperb will verify it can reach your PBX
- Click Save
For detailed instructions on each connection type, see An Introduction to Connections.
Step 3: Configure Your Device — Choose a Registration Mode
Now your PBX is connected, but you need to tell Siperb how you want to connect to it: directly (free) or through Siperb’s proxy (paid features).
Registration Mode: What’s the Difference?
WebSocket (Direct) — Free
Your phone connects directly to your PBX using WebSocket. No fees, no intermediaries. Simple and secure if your PBX supports WebSocket.
Proxy — Paid Plans
Your phone connects to Siperb’s proxy, which then forwards calls to your PBX. Adds features like SIP Trace, media transcoding, push notifications, and better diagnostics.

Set Your Registration Mode
- In Admin, go to Devices or Users
- Select the user or device you’re configuring
- Under Registration Mode, choose WebSocket (free) or Proxy (requires paid plan)
- Save
The device will reprovision automatically with the new settings.
Step 4: Make Your First Call
Open Siperb
- Web: Go to siperb.com/phone/ and sign in
- Desktop: Download and install the Electron app, sign in
- Mobile: Install the app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), sign in
Dial a Number
Your phone should provision automatically — you’ll see the dial pad and a list of your contacts. Click a contact or type a number into the dial pad and press the green call button.
Your first call is live.
Troubleshooting
The app shows “Offline” or won’t connect.
Check that:
- Your PBX connection is saved and tested (Admin → Connections)
- Your device is assigned to the correct Registration Mode
- If using WebSocket: your PBX supports WebSocket and has a valid SSL certificate
- If using Proxy: your paid plan is active
I can’t hear anything on the first call.
This usually means your PBX isn’t configured for WebRTC audio (RTP over DTLS-SRTP). Ask your PBX admin to:
- Enable Opus codec support
- Enable DTLS-SRTP (encrypted RTP)
- Check firewall rules for UDP traffic
I’m behind a corporate firewall.
If WebSocket isn’t working, switch to Proxy mode (paid). Siperb’s proxy is designed to work through restrictive firewalls.
Next Steps
- Add more users: Admin → Users → Invite
- Set up call routing: Admin → Dial Patterns (routes different numbers to different PBX connections)
- Enable SIP Trace: Upgrade to a paid plan, then Admin → SIP Trace to log calls for debugging
- White-label Siperb: See the Co-branded section if you want custom branding and domain
You’re ready. Start making calls.
