Plans Explained: Domain User, Business and Business Pro
Every user in your tree occupies a seat, and the plan of that seat determines what they can do. Choosing the right plan for each user means they get exactly the features they need — no more, no less. Plans can be changed at any time, so you’re not locked into a decision when you first add someone.
The three managed plans
- Domain User — the base plan for a managed user. Covers standard Siperb softphone features: calls, devices, connections, push notifications, and basic settings. This is the right plan for most team members who just need to make and receive calls.
- Business — an upgrade with the Business feature set, including extended data retention and the ability to manage their own users and sub-accounts. A Business seat is appropriate for department heads or anyone who needs to run their own branch of the tree.
- Business Pro — the top plan, with the full Business Pro feature set including the longest data retention periods, AI call transcription, and AI call assistants. For power users or accounts with the highest compliance and productivity requirements.

Two things to remember
- Owners can be Free. If you’re a top-level account with no users beneath you, you can stay on the Free plan indefinitely. Free costs nothing and holds no seat. The moment you add a user under you, you’ll need to be on at least a Business plan to cover their seat.
- Managed users are never Free. Any user you add under your account is on a real plan — Domain User at minimum. There is no Free tier for managed users. The seat you assign them is what funds their access.
Upgrading and downgrading
Changing a user’s plan is a single step in the Control Panel. The old seat is released and a seat of the new plan type is taken from your available inventory in one atomic action — the user is never left without a valid seat mid-change.
Before changing a plan, make sure you have an available seat of the target plan. If your inventory shows zero available Business seats, for example, you’ll need to purchase one before you can upgrade a user. The Control Panel will tell you exactly what’s needed and won’t proceed until the seat is there.
Choosing the right plan
For most deployments, the majority of users will be on the Domain User plan. Upgrade to Business when someone needs to manage their own team or branch. Reserve Business Pro for users where advanced AI features or long-term data retention are a genuine requirement — not just a nice to have.
See Adding, Changing and Removing Domain Users for the step-by-step process of assigning and changing plans.
